Mrs. George Gurtel Fatally Stricken - Mrs. George Gurtel, 77, of 1112 Valley Street (Burlington), died at her home Monday night of a heart attack. She was stricken at home. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Finley, she was born in Ottumwa, Dec. 12, 1865.
She married Charles Black here in October, 1888. He died in 1941 and last Oct. 13, she married George Gurtel at Kahoka, Mo. Mrs.Gurtel was a member of the Christian church, Silver Star society and Lillie of the Valley society. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Daisy Jenkins, Burlington: two brothers, Frank Finley of Ottumwa and Roy Finley of West Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Goldie Dalton, Peoria. One daughter and three brothers preceded her in death. Services were held at Giles funeral home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. W. B. Slater of first Christian church. Interment will be in Forest Hill cemetery at Mt. Pleasant.
