Jno. C. Allen was born at Drakesville, N.J., April 10, 1839, died at his home in Grandview Saturday, Sept. 29, 1906, aged 67 years, 5 months and 19 days. When seventeen years of age he came with his parents to Streator, Ill. He was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth McDougal August 1, 1861. In Sept. 1866, he came to Grandview and has lived here until the time of his death. To this union five children were born, two children having preceded him. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his departure. The funeral occurred Sunday at 2 o'clock p.m. from the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. Longnecker. Interment in the Grandview cemetery.
