WAPELLO — Services for Mrs. Vada Mildred Allworth Pontzius, 86, who died Thursday, Jan. 9, will be held at the Wapello United Methodist Church at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, the Rev. George Yetter officiating. Burial will be in the Wapello Cemetery. An Eastern Star service will be conducted at the Dudgeon McCulley Funeral Home at seven o’clock this evening.
Mrs. Pontzius was born March 6, 1899, at Garrison, to Burton and Bernice Metcalf Harwood. She married Calvin Allworth in 1919; he died July 3, 1950. She married Albert Pontzius in 1954; he died in December of 1973. Mr. and Mrs. Allworth moved from Newton to Wapello in the mid -1930s. She was bookkeeper at Dennison and Partridge Lumber Co. for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist church, OES, and TTT.
Surviving: A sister, Francis Mealhouse, Wapello; seven grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren.
