EMMA MINCHER PASSES AWAY

Last Of Pioneer Family Of Louisa County

MANY ATTEND THE SERVICES

Mrs. Emma Mincher, the last survivor of a pioneer family of this community passed away at her home in Wapello, October 13, 1934, at the age of 88 years, 3 months and 5 days.

Emma Christie Mincher, daughter of Henry and Sarah Christie, was born in Wapello July 13, 1851, and was united in marriage to William Mincher of Wapello.

Mr. Mincher, who served in the Civil war as drummer boy, was twice wounded, but lived until the year 1883, when he passed away in Wapello.

Five children were born to this union, three of whom died early in life. Eva at the age of 5, Harry, 18 months and an infant. Lewis Cass of Monmouth, Ill., and Walther of Springfield, Colo., survive.

After the death of the father, Mrs. Mincher bravely took on her burden and it was in those days the people of the community learned to admire and love the little woman who so bravely carried on.

Mrs. Mincher united with the Methodist church under the pastorate of Rev. Britt Shipman. She was a charter member of the W. R. C. when it was organized in 1887 and also when it reorganized recently. She was a member of the O. E. S. and the Rebekah lodge.

The funeral services were held from the M. E. church Sunday afternoon, October 21, Rev. Treverton Warren in charge, who spoke from II Timothy 4, 7: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."

Interment was made in the Wapello cemetery.
