CASS MINCHER RITES SAT.

Lewis Cass Mincher, son of William and Emma Mincher, was born at Wapello, August 8, 1877, and died at the University Hospital, Iowa City, on Tuesday Nov. 19, 1968, at the age of 91. He grew to manhood in Wapello, and united in marriage with Eva Bailey on Dec. 27, 1900. In 1901, they moved to Monmouth, Ill., and Mr. Mincher became a locomotive engineer on the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railroad, working 41 years at this occupation.

During these years Mr. and Mrs. Mincher maintained the family home in Wapello as a summer residence, and in 1945, upon retirement, they moved back to the hometown. Mr. Mincher enjoyed fishing, and was an interesting and reliable source of local historical facts.

He was a member of the Wapello United Methodist Church, the Senior Citizens, the Odd Fellows, the Masons, and an honorary member of the Louisa County Historical Society.

He was preceeded in death by his wife, Eva, on Aug. 10, 1965. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Faustine Hoy and Mrs. Margaret Neill, both of Monmouth, Ill., three grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 23 at the Dudgeon-McCulley funeral home, with the Rev. George Snyder of the United Methodist church officiating. Phylis McCulley was organist, and the flowers were arranged by Mrs. Violet Dearman and Mrs. Annabelle Pulver.

Bearers were Glen Mills, Burris McNeil, Vernon Wiederrecht, Ora Deppy, William H. Mathews, and Leroy Pulver. Interment was in the Wapello cemetery.
