Well known young man dies in Iowa City Sanitarium

Earl Everett Woodworth was born at DeKalb, Ill., February 8, 1902, and passed away at the hospital in Iowa City, August 17, 1928, at the age of 26 years, 6 months and 9 days. His mother died when he was five days old and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Jennings took him to their home and under their loving care he grew to manhood on the farm known as the Bemis place, northeast of Winfield.

The family moved to Winfield about eight years ago and almost seven years ago Earl developed tuberculosis. For the last five years he has been a patient in the Sanatarium at Oakdale, Iowa. On last Thursday morning when he realized that the end of life was near for him, he desired Christian baptism and was baptized by the Rev. Mr. Keeler, pastor of the M. E. Church in Iowa City.

He is survived by his father, Clare Woodworth, a sister Lucy and brother Lee of Lakeside, Oregon, an aunt, Mrs. Mae Crist of Wetohka, South Dakota three uncles, Frank and Lee Jennings of Winfield, and Howard Jennings of Kenosha, Wisconsin, and a very warm friend and companion in the hospital, Miss Hazel Christofferson.

The body was brought to the home of his uncle Frank Jennings, on Saturday, and funeral services were held in the Methodist church in Winfield on Sunday afternoon, in charge of the pastor, Rev. P. M. Conant: The body was laid to rest in the Winfield cemetery.

The sympathy of many friends in this community is extended to the relatives who mourn the loss of this young man.
