Donald Peck

Donald Waldo Peck, 88, of Oakville (Iowa), died Friday evening, September 10, 2004, at his home. The son of John and Hilda Watkins Peck, he was born May 19, 1916, at Mediapolis (Iowa). He married ‘Dot’ Acuff on April 26, 1941 at Mt. Pleasant (Iowa).

Donald went to the Fairview school in rural Louisa County (Iowa). He was a farmer throughout his life in the Oakville (Iowa) area. He attended the Oakville Community Bible Church. He enjoyed traveling and spending the winters in Texas. He loved pitching horseshoes and fishing in Texas.

He is survived by his wife ‘Dot’; a daughter, Carol and Kenny Gerst of Oakville (Iowa); a son Ernie and Harla Peck of Oakville (Iowa); six grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren, and two sisters, LaVera Poe of Lenexa, Kansas, and Doreen Christman of Brashear, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Walter and Ivan; and three sisters, Oleta Schaper, Sadie Hartley and Juanita Aspelmeier.

The funeral service for Donald Peck was held Tuesday, at the Oakville Community Bible Church with the Rev. Steven Parker officiating. Music was provided by Kenna Baber as the pianist with Stan Wood doing instrumental and vocal selections and Pastor Steven Parker also providing vocal music. Pallbearers were Wayne Peck, Mark Poe, Darrin Peck, Bud Hawkins, James Mitchell, and Jerry Larimer.

Burial followed in Edwards Cemetery, Oakville (Iowa).

The family met with friends Monday evening at the Oakville Community Bible Church.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Oakville Community Bible Church.

The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, provided the funeral arrangements.
