Donna Belle Hughes, 68, or Columbus Junction, Iowa, died Sunday, September 12, 2004 at the Henry County Health Center, Mount Pleasant (Iowa) from an extended illness.

Funeral services were Wednesday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction (Iowa) with the Rev. Linda Baldwin officiating. Pallbearers were David Hughes, Matthew Hughes, Adam Hughes, Jason Hughes, Gina Hughes, Andy Leonhard, Corey Leonhard, Zachary Leonhard, Lucas Leonhard, Bobby Leonhard, Mitchell Leonhard, and Katie Alman. Honorary pallbearers were Troy Hughes, Randy Leonhard, Brad Hughes, Ron Leonhard, and Rob Leonhard. Burial followed in the Columbus City (Iowa) Cemetery. After committal services at the cemetery, a time of food and fellowship for family and friends was held at the Columbus Junction United Presbyterian Church.

Visitation was Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present in the evening.

A memorial has been established at the funeral home in Donna Belle’s name.

Donna Belle Hughes was born June 6, 1936, in Columbus Junction (Iowa) the daughter of Edward and Mary Peters Hughes. She had worked as a teller and bookkeeper at the Columbus Junction State Bank.

She was a member of the Columbus Junction United Presbyterian Church and the Columbus Junction Athletic Association. She enjoyed all sports and music activities, playing in many contests and spending many hours as a volunteer for different school activities.
