Phyllis I. Swailes, 87, of Conesville, died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City.
Funeral services for Phyllis were Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Pastors Rick Crooks and Marsha Gerot officiated. Burial was in Columbus City Cemetery. Visitation was Monday, October 13 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Phyllis Irene Tisor was born January 28, 1927 in Columbus Junction, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Laroy and Viola Kitty (Waterhouse) Tisor. On December 28, 1957, she was united in marriage to Raymond E. Swailes in Columbus Junction.
Phyllis had worked at the Bentico Grocery years ago in Columbus Junction, then for the Economart and for the Columbus Junction State Bank.
She was a member of the Independent Bible Church of Columbus Junction and then the Grace United Church of Christ in Conesville.
Phyllis was an avid Hawkeye fan and in younger years enjoyed bowling, sitting on the election board for Muscatine County, laying softball, spending time with the ‘coffee girls’ and especially watching her kids’ sports events.
Phyllis will be dearly missed by her husband, Raymond of Conesville; sons, Larry Swailes and wife, Barbara of Crawfordsville and Keith Swailes of Raleigh, North Carolina.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Floyd, Harold and Eugene Tisor; and two sisters, Helen DeFosse and Audrene Finley.
