Junior August Otto, 88, of Muscatine, died Thursday morning, October 30, 2014, at Trinity Hospital in Muscatine. The son of august Nelson and C.O. Geraldine Webb Otto, he was born on April 21, 1926 in Oakville. He married Marjorie Louise Kerr on February 26, 1949 in Morning Sun. She preceded him in death on April 30, 2005.
Junior attended Wapello schools, served in the US Navy during World War II and completed and graduated from Wapello High School in 1947.
He was an electrician working through the IBEW Union. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 388 and the American Legion Post 27 both of Muscatine.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, camping, and playing musical instruments. A highlight for him was the Honors Tour to Washington D.C. in 2009 through Muscatine.
His family includes two daughters, Linda and Raymond Kimball of Illinois City, Illinois and Wendy Otto of Muscatine; three grandchildren, Lisa Newton, Lance and Jean Garner and Laramie and Becky Garner; five great-grandchildren, Jacee Hunter, Jaden, Jordan and Sherra; two great-great-grandsons, Drake and Charlie; his beloved canine companion, Teddy; four sisters, LaMaye, Mary, Pat and Maxine; two brothers, Robert and Rex; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; two brothers, John and Harlan; and a sister, Sharon.
Following cremation a private burial will be in the Wapello Cemetery. A family gathering will be held later at his daughter’s home in Illinois City.
The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello is providing the care arrangements for Junior Otto.
