LETTS, Iowa - Floyd Albert Meeker, 73, rural Letts, died Friday, May 14, 2004, at Unity Hospital, Muscatine.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, 2907 Mulberry Ave. The Rev. Dan Schoepf will officiate. Casket bearers are Grant Finley, Ryan Jingst, Matt Troyer, Joshua Holtz, Caleb Holtz and Clint Finley. Honorary casket bearers are Clay Finley, Jeff Paetz Jr., Andy Paetz, Ben Holtz, Thad Holtz and Eli Meeker. Burial will be at Grandview Cemetery. After the burial, a time of food and fellowship will be held at Calvary Church.
Visitation is 3-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A memorial has been established for Calvary Church, Muscatine. Online condolences may be left for the Meeker family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.
Mr. Meeker was born July 14, 1930, in Warsaw, Ill., the son of Fred J. and Grace E. (Hilst) Meeker. He married Carol J. (Chorpening) Paetz March 9, 1985, in Muscatine.
He had been a farmer all his life. He sold seed corn for Rainbow Seed of Oskaloosa and fertilizer for Agro Culture Liquid of Michigan and Meeker Farms.
He was a member of the NFO, NRA and Calvary Church. His grandchildren were the joy of his life; he especially enjoyed watching their athletic games.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Floyd "Butch" Meeker Jr. and wife Janice of Muscatine; four daughters, Judy Troyer and husband Ron of Colby, Kan., Amy Mineart and husband Ed of Muscatine, Kathy Jingst and husband Dennis of Kalispell, Mont., and Tina Finley and husband Dean of Muscatine; two stepsons, Melvin A. Paetz and wife Tammy of Fruitland and Jeffrey A. Paetz Sr. and wife Debra of Columbus Junction; two brothers, Robert G. Meeker and wife Bernadine of Delavan, Ill., and Orville W. Meeker and wife Marcie of Letts; two sisters, LuVerne E. Johns of Pekin, Ill. and Lois Brenneman of Hopedale, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Clarence, Earl, Harley and Roy; and a granddaughter, Holly.
