Jack Zetler

Jack Zetler, 73, of Grandview [Iowa], died Saturday, December 6, 2003, at The Lutheran Homes in Muscatine [Iowa].

Jack Frances Zetler was born April 24, 1930, in Muscatine [Iowa], the son of Grant Arthur and Mary Patrice Moore Zetler. He served with the United States Army from September 1952 until September of 1954 during the Korean Conflict. On May 8, 1955, he was united in marriage to Kathleen M. McCaffrey at Little Bit of Heaven in Davenport [Iowa].

He worked at the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for more than 30 years.

He enjoyed having coffee with the guys in Grandview [Iowa], happy hour in Wapello and tinkering around on the farm.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Kay; two sons, Michael D. Zetler of Letts [Iowa] and Terrill “Terry” Schmidt of Pueblo West, Colorado; two daughters, Pamela Knott and her husband, Michael, of Muscatine [Iowa] and Patricia Strouse of Camdenton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Rob “Robin” Schmidt and his wife, Andrea, Erica Knott, Emily Knott, and Troy Thomas; three great-grandchildren, Shelby and Kaleb Schmidt and Treven Thomas; and one brother, Jim Zetler and his wife, Pat of Jupiter, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were Tuesday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine [Iowa] with Pastor Dan Schoepf of the Calvary Church officiating. Burial was in the Grandview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Homer Snyder, Don Noah, Bryan Hoben, Don Lett, Bill Beik and Junior Weber. Following services at the cemetery, a time of fellowship was held at the Sombrero in Grandview [Iowa].

Visitation was 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home.
