Louise Martin
Louise B. Martin, age 79, of Morning Sun [Iowa] died Friday, December 5, 2003, at the Morning Sun Care Center. The daughter of Henry and Teresa Dettmer Broecker, she was born August 7, 1924, at Fort Madison, Iowa.
No November 29, 1941, she married Merlin F. Martin at Kahoka, Missouri; he died June 17, 1999.
She was a homemaker and a cook at the Iris in Mount Pleasant and Jack Hamilton’s Clubhouse in Morning Sun. She had worked in an environmental position at MHI in Mount Pleasant and at the Morning Sun Care Center, also the IAAP.
She was a loyal caregiver for her husband in their Morning Sun [Iowa] home for 12 ½ years.
Louise opened her home to all and any who came!
Survivors include two sons, Bernard John Martin and James Martin, both of Mount Pleasant [Iowa]; four daughters, Patricia Dunn of Mount Pleasant [Iowa], Linda Messer of Washington [Iowa], Yvonne Kerr of Morning Sun [Iowa] and Gloria Wagaman of Livonia, Michigan; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ernest Broecker of Danville [Iowa]; two sisters, Mary Harris of Nebraska and Edith Haller of Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son, Thomas.According to her wishes, her body was cremated and there was no visitation.
Memorial services were held Monday afternoon at the First United Presbyterian Church in Morning Sun [Iowa], with the Rev. Mel Miller officiating. Interment of her cremains will be at a later date at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the Morning Sun Care Center and Great River Hospice.
Hagele and Honts Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
