David Charles Huff

David Charles Huff, the son of Charles and Kaye Huff of Wapello, died July 3, 2013, after a long and difficult fight with bipolar disorder.

He was born on April 12, 1963 in Dubuque, Iowa. Being a son of missionaries, he spent 10 years in the Congo of Africa. After returning to the states, he graduated in 1981 from WACO High School. He spent 4 years in the military as a flight control operator for helicopter rescue missions, earning several commendations for his part in the rescues. He later worked for Disney on Ice by helping prepare the ice for various shows. This tour took him around the world. Later he became a rigger while operating his own company in setting up stages for productions in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Settling in Sweden he married Therese Lind. In 2012, they moved to the Chicago area.

He loved animals and nature. He was known for his good deeds in helping others, his love for reading and knowledge, his ability to learn languages, and his story telling of his adventures.

He is survived by a wife; his parents; a brother, Steven; a sister, Kristin; 3 nephews, Austin, Andrew, and Aaron; many cousins; an uncle; and 2 aunts.

A private family gathering activity will be held later.
