Francine Elliott, 85, passed away peacefully from colon cancer Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa.

Francine was born June 28, 1928 to Tudor and Mildred Arthur. She married Karl Reece Elliott on September 19, 1958. Francine worked as a school cook in the Manchester and Nevada school districts for several years and later worked as a baker at DMACC before her retirement. She enjoyed many years of weekend family camping trips, quilting, crocheting and attending her grandchildren’s events as they were growing up. Her spunk and feisty personality will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Reece Elliott, and her parents.

Survivors include her sons, David Elliott of Nevada, IA, and Doug and Glenda (Trask) Elliott of Polk City, IA; four grandchildren, Craig, Kelly, Molly, and Spencer Elliott; sisters, Shirley (Dale) Robins of Oskaloosa, IA, Pearl (Don) Attig of Lone Tree, IA, stepsister, Shirley Johnson of Des Moines, IA, and stepbrother, Leonard (Joyce) Timberlake of Burlington, IA; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Susie Elliott of Decatur, IL, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Ankeny Funeral Home, 1510 W. First St., with visitation one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to HCI Care Services.

The family would like to express thanks to HCI Care Services for their help fulfilling her wishes to live her last few weeks at home.
