Florence C. Pontzius, 86, of Columbus Junction, died Sunday, March 3, 2013 at her home in Columbus Junction. There will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation rites have been facilitated by the FCS Life Transition and Cremation Center. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com. Florence Cecelia Owens was born May 27, 1926 in Columbus Junction, the daughter of David L. and Helene B. (Bonnichsen) Owens. She was a 1943 graduate of Columbus Junction High School. On March 28, 1945 Florence was united in marriage to Forrest L. Pontzius in Muscatine, Iowa. Florence worked for St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport. She was on a bowling league in Davenport and enjoyed cooking, making potato salad, yard and flower gardening and her dogs.

Florence will be dearly missed by her children, Nancy Kurtz and her husband, Michael of Washington, Deborah Snell and her husband, Pat of Ft. Worth, TX, Connie Kitzmann of Davenport and Bill Pontzius of Columbus Junction; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Forrest in November 1996, and one son-in-law, Bruce Kitzmann.
