Kathrin Lieberknecht, 98, of Columbus Junction, passed away at Colonial Manor Care Center in Columbus Junction on March 4, 2013. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013, at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. Burial will be in the Indian Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 11, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction. A memorial has been established at the funeral home in memory of Kathrin. Online condolences may be left to the family at www.lewisfuneralhomes.com.

Kathrin Ida Howell was born March 16, 1914, in Atalissa, Iowa, the daughter of Charles T. and Margaret A. (Coder) Howell. On April 2, 1933, Kathrin was united in marriage to Ralph Hilton Lieberknecht in Grandview, Iowa. She and her husband farmed east of Columbus Junction. The farm was dedicated as a century farm in 1976. In 1996, she and her husband moved to Sarasota, Florida and following Ralph’s passing, Kathrin moved back to Columbus Junction in 2008. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Church and was a past 4-H Leader, a charter member of the Grandview Federated Club and a member of the Ladies Aide for the Pleasant Grove Church. In Florida, she was a member of Home League and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army.

Kathrin will be dearly missed by her sister, Lois Fullmer and her husband, Ed of Meadview, Arizona.

Kathrin was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ralph, one son, Mark and two brothers, Morris and Marion.
