George Edward Brown Jr.

George Edward Brown, Jr., passed away February 6, 2013, at UMC Hospital in Tucson after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Muscatine, Iowa, on January 9, 1925, to George Edward Brown, Sr., and Pansy Brown.

He married Erma Allen of Columbus Junction, Iowa, in 1944. They were married for 69 years.

George was in the Army in World War II for four years. During 1944, he made D-Day landings in two amphibious operations undertaken by U.S. forces in the southwest Pacific. After getting out of the Army, he worked for H&W Motor Express in Davenport, Iowa for 14 years before moving to Whetstone in the early 60s where he owned George Brown Construction, employing lots of young boys and helping lots of people in the area.

He is survived by his wife, Erma; son, George Brown III (Theresa) of Whetstone; granddaughter, Sarah of Tucson; and grandson, George Brown IV; and granddaughter, Miranda, both of Whetstone; one sister, Pearl McGill Beverlan of Muscatine, Iowa; and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Fred, Clarence, Gerald; and two sisters, Mildred and Gladys.
George was known throughout the area and will be greatly loved and missed by all.

There will be no services per his wish.
