Samuel A. McKelvey
Samuel A. McKelvey, 83, of West Burlington, formerly of Brookfield, Ill., died at 9 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2003, at his residence. Born November 15, 1920 in Morning Sun, he was the son of Samuel Beaty and Leona C. Milligan McKelvey. He was a graduate of Morning Sun High School and Burlington Junior College. He married Elaine Musser in 1940. They divorced in 1942. He then married Alice Christin in June of 1945; she died March 20, 1989.
He was employed for 40 years as a linotype operator for the Chicago Tribune, retiring in 1990.
He was affiliated with the Reformed Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Chicago Typographical Union.
Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Lehman of Augusta, Georgia; a brother-in-law, Ray Crist* of Muscatine; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
Private family viewing was held at Lunning Chapel. There was no visitation.
Interment was Wednesday in Willow Hills Cemetery, Willow Springs, Illinois.
*Crist - may be a typo for Christin, but that is what is said in the obituary.
