LETTS, Iowa – Corita W. McCormac, 91, of Muscatine, died on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at Simpson Memorial Home.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2012, at the Letts United Methodist Church. Pastor Marsha Gerot will officiate. Private burial will take place in Indian Creek Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either the Letts United Methodist Church, Letts Public Library or Camp Courageous. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Corita was born on January 28, 1921, at Grandview, the daughter of Harold and Leila Lieberknecht Williams. She married Orval Clark McCormac on November 15, 1942, at Columbus Junction. He preceded her in death in 1993.

She worked as the elementary and high school librarian at Louisa-Muscatine School District and retired after 22 years of service.

She was a 60+ year member of the Letts United Methodist Church. She also belonged to the Louisa County Farm Bureau, the Letts Federated Club, and served as secretary of the Letts Fire Board for 40 years.

She enjoyed doing handiwork, reading, gardening, traveling, cooking, singing, and chocolate. She was Cubs and Hawkeye fan and her first priority was always her faith and her family.

Those left to honor her memory include one son, Dick McCormac and wife, Norma, of Columbus Junction; two daughters, Betsy Patterson and husband, Dick, of Muscatine, and Trish Ball and husband, Warren, of Wapello; four grandchildren, Brian McCormac of Des Moines, Katie Martin of Columbus Junction, Troy Mohror of Kansas City, Kansas, and Brenda Myers of Washington; eight great-grandchildren, Hayden and Tyler McCormac and Nikolas, Tomas, and Daniel Martin, Michael, Amanda and Lynnsey Myers; one great-great-grandson, Cayden Myers; one sister, Naomi Peralta of Villa Park, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and a dear family friend, Bev Weber.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and five sisters, Marion Maloy, Jean Croy, Virgilia Williams, Priscilla Sparks, and Aileen Locher.
