Brian Smith, 47, of Columbus Junction, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics from injuries suffered in a farm accident.

Funeral services were Saturday, October 27, 2012, at 11:00 A.M. at the Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services in Columbus Junction, Iowa. Pastor Al Coffin officiated. Casket bearers were Nathan Smith, Eric Peter, Josh Buck, Brandy Gresham, Savannah Esquivel, Ashley Peter and Caitlin Peter. Immediately following the services there was a time of food and fellowship at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Visitation was held on Friday, October 26th from 4-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Cremation was facilitated by FCS Life Transition and Cremation Service and inurnment will take place at a later date. Brian David Smith was born January 18, 1965, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Arnold Lee and Abbie Allene (Miller) Smith. On February 16, 1985, Brian was united in marriage to Barbara Bright in Columbus City, Iowa. He had served in the US Army from 1985-1986. He had worked as a medical records clerk for the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. Brian was a previous member of the Lone Tree JayCees and enjoyed working in his garage, restoring motorcycles, working on model train layouts, and most of all, spending time with his grandkids, camping and collecting Pepsi memorabilia.

Brian will be dearly missed by his wife, Barb of Columbus Junction; his children, BriAnna Smith of Columbus Junction, Jason Smith of Monticello and Tia Smith of Delmar, Iowa; his grandchildren, Lake and Coy Wiley and step-granddaughter, Kaylee Wiley; and his sisters, Carol Vannes and husband, John of Kirkville, Iowa and Brenda Peter of Coralville.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bruce Smith.
