Ruth Maxine Richards, age 88, formerly of rural Columbus Junction, died Wednesday afternoon, October 3, 2012, at the Morning Sun Care Center in Morning Sun. The daughter of Grant and Ella Stickrod Steckman, she was born on September 4, 1924 in Muscatine. She married Darrel Richards on November 16, 1949 in Grandview.

Maxine graduated from Muscatine High School. She was a homemaker on the family farm.

Her family includes her husband, Darrel of rural Columbus Junction and currently at the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center; two sons, Jerry Richards of Morning Sun and Dean Richards of Northridge, California; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ted; two brothers; and two sisters.

No services are planned and her body has been cremated.

The Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Morning Sun provided the care and arrangements.
