Fruitland, Iowa - Evelyn L. Helm, 77, of Fruitland passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012, at her home. Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2012, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services (Muscatine, Iowa). Visitation: 9:30 - 10:30 a.m., Monday July 16, at the funeral home. Burial: Island Cemetery. Pastor John Brown will officiate. Following the interment a time of food and fellowship will be held at the Fruitland Community Center. A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home in Evelyn's name.

Evelyn Lorraine Brockert was born on December 3, 1934, in Muscatine, the daughter of Ernest R. and Marie A.(Finley) Brockert. On Sept. 25, 1954, Evelyn was united in marriage to Robert Bruce Helm. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and spending time with grandchildren. She was a Sunday school teacher for 32 years. Evelyn worked for Hardee's for 17 years. Evelyn will be deeply missed by her two children, Steven Helm and wife Kelly and Patricia Freese and husband Jay, all of Muscatine; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and five siblings; Lucille, Phillip, Thomas, Dave and Charles. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 2005 and four sisters and one brother.
