Milton A. Robertson

Milton A. Robertson, 72, of rural Douds, died at 7:07 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012, in the emergency room of Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua. He was born September 14, 1939, in rural Morning Sun to James R. and Jennie Elvessie Meyers Robertson and married Janell V. Luebs June 17, 1961 in Denver CO.

Milton graduated from Morning Sun High School and Colorado State University and was a range conservationist for U.S. Forest Service in Colorado and northern California.

After his retiring in 1987 the Robertson moved to their farm south of Douds. In addition to farming they had owned and operated Douds Kwik Stop convenience store and he was a long-time bus driver for Van Buren Community Schools. He was chairman of the administrative board of Christ United Methodist Church, Douds, and had served the church in numerous capacities. He was a Past Master of Celestial Lodge No. 413, Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, Douds and was a member of Ottumwa York Rite and Davenport Scottish Rite Club. He was Chequest Township Clerk, a member of the Douds Community Club Board and had been a member of Lions Clubs in the West and in Cantril and was active in the Republican Party.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Cindy Rawls (Mike) of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Elizabeth Enserro (Ron) of Lone Tree, Colorado; a son, James Robertson (Tammy) of Douds; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Janet Caudle (George) of Boone Terre, Missouri; and a brother-in-law, David Wilson of Wapello.

His parents and a sister, Marlene Wilson, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012 in Christ Methodist Church, Douds, the Rev. Ann Donat officiating. Burial was in Sharon Cemetery, rural Morning Sun.

Visitation was Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, with the family present in the evening. Masonic rites followed the visitation.

Memorials to Christ Methodist Church, Celestial Lodge or Sharon Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or church, or mailed to the family at 16701, Route V-64, Douds, IA 52551.
