Larry Leo Boyd, born November 10, 1938, in Muscatine, Iowa, died June 24, 2012, at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Services were Friday, June 29th at 11 a.m., Cannon 4th Ward (1301 S. 1200 W. Salt Lake City, Utah. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 28th, and again an hour before the service at the church. A graveside ceremony took place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 30th, at the Victor, Idaho Cemetery.

Larry was raised in Columbus Junction, Iowa, where he lived the first 35 years of his life. He received his education in Columbus Junction. He enjoyed being part of the community by, playing sports, working and serving those in the area. At one point, Larry was a volunteer fireman. He raced stock cars for a period of time. Speed was fun to him, as he also took flying lessons.

He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in June 1964. Larry served in many callings over the years. On October 24, 1970, he married Sheila Jean Moulton of Jackson, WY, in the Idaho Falls Temple. They lived for a time in Columbus Junction, Iowa, and in Muscatine, Iowa, where Larry worked for Monsanto for several years.

He took his family to Jackson, WY, living and working in that community for several years. They operated Timber Trails scenic 4x4 trips into the national forest for three years.

In 1978, they moved from Jackson to Salt Lake City and lived there for 30 years. Larry worked for the University of Utah and retired in 2007 as Assistant Supervisor of the High Temp Water Plant. He enjoyed his time there, and the people that he worked with. After retirement, Larry and Sheila moved into their 5th wheel and started to travel. They ended up going to Quartzsite, AZ, for the winters and Island Park, Idaho, in the summers, where he worked at his true love, being a campground host. He loved the outdoors, especially Island Park.

Larry was a kind, considerate man and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila; children (all boys, except for the four girls) Amy (Troy) Bowden of Ogden, Utah, Wendi (Fred) Hale of Tetonia, Idaho, Merry Boyd of Tetonia, Idaho, Richard (Elayna) Boyd of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jamie (Paul) Marcoux of Salt Lake City, Utah; sister, Merry (Tom) Wasson of Columbus Junction, Iowa; and eleven grandchildren.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Leo Boyd and Merry Lois Sands, of Columbus Junction.
