Fred C. Swafford
Oakville - Fred C. Swafford, 82, Oakville, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Wapello Nursing Home.
He was born May 1, 1899, in Louisa County, to Clair and Barbara Rold Swafford. He married Ellen Bloom, June 15, 1953, at St. Paul, Minn. She died Oct. 1979.
He was a farmer, a steelworker, and operated a restaurant. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of American Legion Post 489 at Oakville.
Surviving: one stepdaughter, Marilyn Pitcher, Loves Park, Ill., three brothers, Otis, Oakville, Hallie, Simmesport, La. and George, Alamagordo, N.M.; two sisters, Augusta Wischmeier, Burlington, and Clara Christianson, Oakville.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday, Dudgeon McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, the Rev. Allen Jones, Wapello Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the Oakville American Legion post.
