Charles J. St. John
Charles J. “Chuck” St. John, 76, of Morning Sun, formerly of the Illinois Quad-City area and Oquawka, Illinois, died Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at the Morning Sun Care Center in Morning Sun. He was born October 25, 1926, in Perryville, Arkansas. He married Shirley Jean Schneider on July 6, 1948.
He was employed for a time at the Rock Island Arsenal, then with the Army Corps of Engineers at Lock and Dam 18, Gladstone, Ill, from which he retired in 1982.
He was a member of the Henderson County VFW and the Oquawka Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley, Morning Sun; a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Karen St. John, Seaton, Illinois; a daughter, Jenean Davis, Oakville; a daughter-in-law, Connie St. John, Reynolds, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Terry St. John, and a grandchild.
Services for Mr. St. John were Friday, October 10 at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home in Milan, Illinois. Burial followed in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military honors presented by American Legion Post 569/200 and V.F.W. Post 1303.
