Harlan H. Willet, 913 east 9th St., Muscatine, died at 5:20 a.m. January 30, 1973, at Muscatine General Hospital following an extended illness. He was 70 years, 9 months and 22 days of age.

He was born April 8, 1902, at Cairo, Iowa, the son of Thomas and Lucy Hall Willet, and had been a Muscatine resident for 30 years.

He first married Mabel Turner. Following her death he married Lela Staats on October 10, 1928 at Rock Island.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lela Willet of Muscatine; eight sons, Roy of East Moline, David of Moline, Charles, Glen, Robert, Michael, William and Harlan Jr., all of Muscatine; five daughters, Mrs. Fern (Ruth) Heath of Yucca Valley, Calif., Mrs. James (Joyce) Burns of Empire, La., Mrs. Merle (Carlene) Mendez of Buffalo, Iowa, Mrs. Thomas (Helen) Davis of Muscatine and Mrs. Arthur (Mary) Meyer of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Glen Willet of Columbus Junction; 41 grand children and 14 great grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, two sons, three sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. February 1 at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home in Muscatine with Rev. A. A. Buntenbach officiating. Mrs. Richard Dilts was organist. Flower attendants were Mrs. LeRoy Willet, Miss Janet Willet and Mrs. Charles Riley. Casket bearers were LeRoy Willet, Joe Willet, Charles Riley, Douglas Miller, Mike Adams and Don Lichtenwald. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.
