Dean W. Spaethe, 51, of 412 52nd Street, Moline, Illinois, died February 4, 1970, of a heart attack in the Moline Hospital.

He was the son of Curtis and Blanche Bozman Spaethe. He was united in marriage to Mildred M. McConnell October 20, 1938. He was employed as an operating engineer by the Moline Consumers Co. for the last 35 years. He was a veteran of World War II and had won the Bronze Star, the Silver Star, Purple Heart and the Croix de Gueare from the French government.

Surviving are his wife, one son, Lyle of Moline and one daughter, Mrs. John Bleacker of Des Moines and three grandchildren; also two brothers, John E. of East Moline and Lyle B. of Roy, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mildred and a daughter.

He is a cousin of Lucy Riley and a nephew of Frank Spaethe of Columbus Junction.

Services were held February 9, at the Primm and Sullivan Funeral Home in East Moline conducted by Rev. Ellis V. Youngdahl. Burial was in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, Moline, Illinois, with Military rites.
