Jesse Riley died Monday morning at 5:15 a.m. January 23, 1978 at Muscatine General Hospital at the age of 92 years and 18 days. Mr. riley has made his home at Colonial Manor for some time.

Jesse Cowden Riley was born January 5 1886, in Crawfordsville, Iowa. He was the son of John and Elizabeth Lemon Riley. He spent most of his life in the Columbus City area and was a retired farmer. He married Mary Ellen Willet on December 16, 1912 in Columbus City. Mrs. Riley died in 1966.

He is survived by one son, Charles Riley of Columbus Junction; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Mildred) Dunnahoo of Columbus City, and Mrs. Harry (Dorothy) Ashby of Burlington; 13 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren ; and a half-sister, Mrs. Eunice Marion of Columbus City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, one daughter, two sisters and four brothers.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Hasel officiating. Miss Donna Belle Hughes was organist and Mrs. Kenneth Carrell was soloist. Casket bearers were Daryl, James, Melvin and Larery Ashby, Dennis and Leland DeWitt. Burial was in the Columbus City Cemetery.
