Katherine “Katy” Williams, age 76 of Crawfordsville, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. The daughter of Carl Oscar and Effie (Henderson) Wait, she was born June 13, 1935 at Oelwein, Iowa. On December 24, 1959 she married Robert “Bob” Williams at Oelwein. She was a graduate of the Oelwein High School and Iowa Wesleyan College. She taught school at Winfield and Wyman and did home childcare for many years. She was a member of the Winfield First Presbyterian Church and the United Presbyterian Women.

Survivors include: her husband, Bob of Crawfordsville; two sons, Steve Williams of Crawfordsville and Gary Williams of West Burlington; four grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Zanatta of Kanawha, Iowa; Betty Unkrich of Winfield; Denise Nichols of Pemberton, Minnesota; three brothers, Richard Wait of Bettendorf; Don Wait of Des Moines; William Wait of Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and two infant siblings.

According to her wishes, cremation has been accorded.
The memorial service was Friday, October 21, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield, with Rev. Dottie Halverson officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. The family will meet with friends following the service at the church for a time of lunch and fellowship.

Memorials have been established for the Winfield First Presbyterian Church and the Winfield First Responders.
Honts Funeral Home in Winfield is in charge of the arrangements.
