John L. Woodrow

John Lloyd Woodrow, 55, of Morning Sun, died Monday, April 28, 2003 at Lexington, Kentucky. The son of William Lloyd and Margaret Mathies Woodrow, he was (born) on October 9, 1947, at Fairfield, Iowa. On November 16, 1977, he married Marie Lambert at Morning Sun.

He was a graduate of the Fairfield High School, class of 1965. He attended Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church.

He had worked in road construction and for various trucking firms and presently was an owner/operator for Don Hummer Trucking of Oxford. He enjoyed his time at the Dairy Barn Coffee Club in Morning Sun.

Survivors include his mother of Birmingham; his wife of Morning Sun; one son, Eric Lambert and fiancé’ Alison Vermie of West Des Moines; one daughter, Laura Woodrow and her boyfriend Carey Bender of Brighton, Massachusetts; one sister, Kathy Morris of Fairfield; four brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; his father-in-law, Alvin Lambert of Morning Sun, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and his mother-in-law, Ola Lambert.

The funeral service for John Woodrow was at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, from the Sharon Reformed Presbyterian Church, rural Morning Sun, with the Rev. Ron Good officiating. Interment followed at the Sharon Church Cemetery.

The family met with friends from 10 until 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

A memorial has been established for a scholarship fund in his name.
