Ralph M. Yoder

Ralph Merle Yoder, 79, of Oakville, died Sunday, April 27, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. The son of Joel and Nancy Plank Yoder, he was born June 30, 1923, in Rock Island County, Illinois. On September 12, 1948, he married Donna Janell Mehaffy at Burlington; she died February 9, 2003. He attended Huron High School. He was a member of the Kingston United Methodist Church, was a lifetime farmer, and enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include on son, Brian Yoder and wife Jeri of Burlington; two daughters, Janell Heater and husband Scott of Wapello and Gail Heater and husband Dan of Hays, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Justin and Nicholas Yoder, Stacy and Doran Massner, Joel and Jaime Heater, Jessica and Jeff Heater; two great-grandchildren, Dakota and Levi Massner; and one sister, Rosemary Yoder of Santa Barbara, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, Alvin, and a brother and sister in infancy.

The funeral service for Ralph Yoder will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1 at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis with the Rev. Beth Briggs of the Kingston United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Kossuth Cemetery.

Visitation was from noon to 7:30 Wednesday at the funeral home where the family met with friends from 5 to 7:30.
