Nora Jean "Jeanie" Struensee was born February 14, 1948 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Guy and Harriet (Coleman) Eutsler. She grew up and attended school in Wapello, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Roy Hummell and to this union was born three children, Leland, Chris, and Angela. After their marriage they moved to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa before settling in New London, Iowa.

On July 12, 1986, she married Gregory Nathan "Greg" Struensee in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. They made their home in LaCrosse until 1986 when they moved to Appleton, Wisconsin. Later they moved to Creighton, South Dakota where they resided until Greg’s death on December 19, 1998. She then moved into Philip where she has since resided.

Jeanie enjoyed all aspects of music, crafts, and gardening. She especially enjoyed her dogs that she had in her life throughout the years, Trey, WeePee, PeeWee, Tinkerbell, Putsie.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son Christopher Hummell and his wife Stacey of Green Bay, Wisconsin, her daughter, Angela Schroeder and her husband Rick, of Appleton, Wisconsin, four grandchildren, Courtney, Phillip, and Sydney Hummell of Green Bay, and Leland Schroeder of Appleton, Wisconsin; three step-sons, Dave, Daniel, and Darwin Struensee; two brothers, Herb Eutsler of Cotter, Iowa, and Doug Eutsler of Wapello, Iowa; one half-brother, Tom Lawton of Salem, Iowa, and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband Greg’s death on December 19, 1998, Jeanie was preceded in death by her son Leland Hummell.

Private family graveside services were held Wednesday, December 12, 2001 at the Chapelle Cemetery in Pierre, South Dakota where she will lay to rest beside Greg. Public visitation was held from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at the Rush Funeral Home in Philip.
