Anna Brown

Funeral services for Anna Brown, 96, of Columbus Junction, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 20, at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction. Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery.

Anna died Monday at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Visitation was Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial has been established at the funeral home.

Anna D. Knottnerus was born February 10, 1907, in Washington, to Reemerius and Reke Y. Simmering Knottnerus. She married Charles L. Brown, Sr. on August 24, 1935, in Iowa City. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, carrying for her chickens, being a farm wife, was a good cook and loved her family. She was a member of the Columbus City Free Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Charles L. Brown, Jr. and wife Linda of Morning Sun and Albert Loren Brown of Columbus Junction; two daughters, Shirley Metzger and husband Richard of Columbus Junction and Beverly Marie Finley and husband Delbert of Wapello; 19 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one great-grandson, three brothers, and one sister.
