Galen E. Mousty

Galen Edward Mousty, 41, of Wapello, died Friday, August 22, 2003 at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

Born July 2, 1962, in Salem, Indiana, he was the son of Lewis and Rita Shuck Mousty. On September 17, 1988, he married Debra Harrison Freeman, at Enid, Oklahoma. He attended school in Galena, Indiana.

Mr. Mousty was an independent over the road truck driver. He enjoyed coonhunting and was a member of the Muscatine County Coonhunters Association. He also enjoyed fishing, camping, and demolition derbies.

Survivors include his parents of Palmyra, Indian; his wife, three daughters, Chandra Freeman of Wapello and Disarae Khun and Maya Mousty, both at home; a son, Cody Mousty at home; a granddaughter, Sativa Kuhn; a grandson, Austin Bishop; a sister Reylene Weaver of Louisville, Ky.; paternal grandmother Cletus Mousty of Bradford, Indiana and maternal grandmother Garrenta Shuck of Salen.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dusty Kuhn.

Visitation was Monday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello where the family met with friends in the evening.

A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the family.

The funeral service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Chris Thomas officiating. Bev Parsons provided the organ music. Selected recordings included “The Dance” by Garth Brooks and “I’m Already There” by One Star. The pallbearers included David Young, Brandon Bishop, Ryan Stephens, Danny Harrison, Jr., Justin Goddard and Eric Eagle. Burial followed in the Wapello Cemetery.
