Frances K. Diveney

Frances Katherine Sophia Mortensen Diveney, 90, of Conesville, died after complications of a heart attack and stroke on August 22, 2003 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

Born February 6, 1913, in Ringstead, she was the daughter of Hans Mortensen from Denmark and Catherine Kohl Mortensen from Germany.

She married Milton Emmet Diveney on July 14, 1931, in Blue Earth, Minn. Since 1948 they made their home in rural Conesville. He preceded her in death September 21, 1985.

She retired after working for more than 20 years at Thacher Plastics in Muscatine.

Mrs. Diveney was a volunteer at Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction, helping with recreational activities.

She attended the Grandview and Marion Gospel Halls and also attended Victory Christian Center in Columbus Junction.

Survivors include three daughters, Joanne Peck and husband Greg of Moline, Sue Dilts of Mount Juliet, Tenn., Sandy Danielson of Fredonia; five sons; Milton Jr. and wife Barbara of Conesville, Daniel and wife Diane of Trenton, Ill., James and wife Karen of Fairport, Michael and wife Lonna of Keokuk and Patrick and wife Fina of West Liberty; 26 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction, with Robert Orr and Michael McAfee officiating. Burial was in the Conesville Cemetery. Following the committal, a luncheon was served at the Columbus Junction Senior Center.

Visitation was Sunday afternoon at the funeral home. A memorial has been established.
