Ethel Marie Padilla, age 93 of Wapello, died May 11, 2011 at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. The daughter of Amos and Bertha (Hill) Hesler, she was born June 6, 1917 at Bloomington, Indiana. She married Ralph “Bill” Wilson in April of 1935 in Missouri; he died in February of 1961. In November of 1970 she married Arturo T. Padilla in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a graduate of the Morning Sun High School, class of 1934. She was a lifetime member of the O.E.S. and was a member of the Wapello United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, June Hardin and husband Don of Wapello and Joyce Helfter Jackson and husband Michael of Davenport; two stepchildren, Christina Matheson and Terry Padilla both of California; four grandsons, 10 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, eight step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one brothers, Rodney L. Hesler of Davenport; two sisters, Maxine Jack of Barnes City, Iowa and Joan Knowler of Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, one daughter and one sister.

The funeral service will be held Monday May 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wapello United Methodist Church, with Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Morning Sun. The family will meet with friends from 9:00 -11:00 prior to the service at the church; there will be no calling hours at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established for the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
