YAKLE, STAFFORD, BROWN, RILEY, HINKLE, MILLS, HILL

Ruth Idele Yakle, age 71, of Wapello, Iowa, died Thursday morning, May 26, 2011, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. The daughter of Glen and Hattie Brown Stafford, she was born on April 7, 1940 at Mt. Pleasant. Ruth married Andrew Jarrett ‘Bud’ Yakle on December 13, 1958 in Mt. Pleasant. He preceded her in death on December 12, 2000.

Ruth graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1958. She obtained her B.A. degree and later her M.A. degree in Education from Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant. She was a high school teacher having first taught in New London and then for several years in Wapello. She had continued to provide tutoring and substitute teaching.

She was of the Methodist faith and had been very active and a Past President of the Louisa County Habitat for Humanity. She was very active in volunteering for several things including the Relay for Life.

Her family includes two sons, Ray Yakle of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jerry & Janet Yakle of Wapello; two grandsons, Doug and Jason; three brothers, Dean Stafford and Paul Stafford both of Mt. Pleasant and Wayne Stafford of Winfield; and three sisters, Evelyn Riley and Violet Mills both of Mt. Pleasant and Pauline Hinkle of Burlington. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, ‘Bud’; two sisters, Ferne Hill and an infant Mary Louise; and two brothers, Don Beames and an infant John Henry.

The funeral ceremony for Ruth Yakle will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Wapello with Rev. Sue-Ellen Sherman officiating. Burial will follow at the Wapello Cemetery.

The family will meet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Monday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefits of the Louisa County Habitat for Humanity, the Wapello Food Pantry, the American Cancer Society, and the Great River Hospice.
