Hilda Laurene Edwards, 91, of Washington, died Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington after failing in health since June.

Celebration of life services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Jones and Eden Funeral Home in Washington with Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Visitation began at 11:00 a.m. Sunday at the Jones and Eden Funeral Home where the family received friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Interment took place at Oregon Township Cemetery in Ainsworth. Hilda was born October 25, 1919 in Columbus Junction, Iowa the daughter of Milo and Ruby (Stingley) Fulton. She graduated from Columbus Junction High School in 1937. Hilda was united in marriage to Lloyd F. “Buck” Edwards on July 17, 1937 at her parent’s home in Louisa County, Iowa. She lived most of her life in Ainsworth prior to moving to Washington in 2003. Hilda was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the farming operation. She was a member of Ainsworth Community Church where she was active in the Ainsworth Community Church Women. Hilda was a member of several neighborhood clubs and a member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, and traveling to Arizona where she and Buck spent several winters.

Hilda is survived by her daughter, Diane Anding of Ainsworth; son, Gary Edwards and wife, Pamela of St. Charles, Missouri; daughter, Jan Edwards of Warsaw, Illinois; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one sister, Phyllis Schlatter and husband, Max of Annawan, Illinois; and one brother, Max Fulton and wife, Ann “Biddy” of Grand Rapids, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2000; son, Ron in 1985; one infant son, Scott; and two brothers, Bob Fulton and Bill Fulton.
