Thomas E. “Tommy” Thomas, 83, of Columbus Junction, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Colonial Manor in Columbus Junction. Memorial services for Tommy will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011, at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church. Following the services there will be a time of food and fellowship held at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Columbus Junction Methodist Church. Cremation rites were accorded by the Life Transition Center in Muscatine. The Stacy-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services is assisting the family with their arrangements. Thomas E. Thomas was born on January 11, 1928, in the Long Creek Community of Louisa County, Iowa the son of Harlan and Frances (Duncan) Thomas. Tommy served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947, serving in Saipan, in the South Pacific. Tommy was united in marriage to Lois Cuddeback of Washington in November 1948. She passed away in a car accident in 1959. Tommy was then united in marriage to Marilyn Leonhard on November 26, 1961 in Aledo, IL. He was the owner of Tommy’s Tap for over 30 years. Tommy was a member of the Columbus Junction American Legion Post 100, the Masons, the Shriners and the “Roundtable”. He enjoyed fishing, RVing during the winter and reading westerns. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Tommy especially loved spending time with his family.

Tommy will be dearly missed by his wife, Marilyn of Columbus Junction; his children; Linda Rathjen and her husband, Louis of Oxford, IA, Barb Bonnichsen and her husband, Steve of Columbus Junction, Steve McFarland and his wife, Ruth of Iowa City, and Tom McFarland and his wife, Chris of Columbus Junction; 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Joyce McCullough of Conesville and Loris Carden of Tucson, AZ.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.
