MRS. J. W. SWAN, 80, PASSES AWAY

Resident of Louisa County for 61 Years-
Funeral Services Monday

Morning Sun, Ia., Dec 5. - Mrs. J. W. Swan
of this place, 80, died at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. C. A. Peterson southeast of town
Thursday night at 10:30. Mrs. Swan has
been in declining health for some time, her
last illness being of a few days' duration.

Diana Paisley was the daughter of S. N.
and Sarah Ann (Savage) Paisley and was
born July 8, 1830 [1850] in Athens county, Ohio,
coming with her father to Louisa county in
1859, her mother having died in Ohio in
1855. She was united in marriage to J. W.
Swan, June 29, 1871 who preceded her in
death eleven weeks ago. For many years
they lived on a farm southeast of Morning
Sun, which place continued to be her home.
The following children were born to them,
all of whom survive: Mrs. P. A. Yohe of
Stuttgart, Ark., who has been assisting
with the care of her mother since the
death of her father, Mrs. C. A. Peterson
of Morning Sun, Warren of Crystal Lake,
Ia., Wallace of Clinton, Ia., Walter of
Britt, Ia., Guy of Mediapolis and Clinton
of Sioux City. There also survives
sixteen grandchildren, fourteen great
grandchildren, one brother, William W.
Paisley of Winfield, one half sister, Miss
Ida A. Paisley of Knoxville, Tenn., and
four half brothers, Dr. C. A. Paisley of
Luska, Wyo., G. M. Paisley of Lenox, Ia.,
W. L. Paisley of Ocheydan, Ia., and J. S.
Paisley of Shambaugh, Ia.

She was a life long member of the Presbyterian
church. Funeral services will be held in
the Union church on Monday afternoon at
2 o'clock and burial will be in Elmwood
cemetery.
