MRS. W. D. ALLEN PASSES AWAY

Well Known Resident of Morning
Sun Dies At Ottumwa
After Long Illness

Morning Sun, Ia., Dec. 12.— Mrs.
Mabel Allen, wife of Wayne D. Allen,
principal of the local high school,
passed away Thursday evening in a
sanitarium at Ottumwa where she has
been a patient since last June. Mrs.
Allen was formerly Miss Mabel Rich,
daughter of Frank Rich whose home
is on a farm northwest of Wayland.
Besides her husband she leaves two
children, Shirley, age two years and
Richard, age 4, her father, three
brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Allen
with her husband came to Morning
Sun in August 1929. In September of
that year her health began to fail and
the following June she was taken to
a sanitarium in Ottumwa where she
remained until her death. The funeral
services will be held at the Mennonite
church at Wayland, Sunday afternoon
at 2 o'clock.

DALLIN FUNERAL HELD AT WAYLAND MENNONITE CHURCH

Wayland, Ia., Dec. 16 - The funeral of
Mrs. Wayne D. Allen was held at the of Mrs.
Wayne Dallen was held at the Mennonite church
on Sunday afternoon.

Mable Rich, 27, daughter of Mr.
Frank Rich passed away Dec. 11 at
the Ottumwa sanitarium where she
had been for the past several months
In the hope of regaining her health.

In August 1926 she was united in
marriage to Wayne D. Allen, who with
a little son and daughter, her father,
brothers and sisters survive.

The service was conducted by the
Rev. Basinger assisted by her pastor,
Rev. Barr of Morning Sun and Rev.
J. J. Pritchard.

A quartet composed of Clara Wenger,
Mable Wettrig, Homer Davis and
Ross Severt sang "Have Thine Own
Way Lord" and "Lead Kindly Light,"
with Mrs. Edith Boshart at the piano.

The large number in attendance and
the profusion of flowers bespoke the
esteem of a large circle of relatives
and friends.

Relatives from a distance present
included: Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Rich,
Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Eicher, Washington,
Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Fred Messenger,
Muscatine, Ia., Paul Henss, Mrs. Ray
Henss and son, Edward, of Moline, Ill.,
Gilbert Schantz, Luverne Eicher, Iowa
City, Vera Boshart, Hugh Brown, New
London, Mr. and Mrs. Jelmer Johnson
of Winfield and many friends, teachers
and pupils from Morning Sun, Ia.

Interment was made in the family
lot at Eicher cemetery beside her
mother and sister.
