Ronald Roy Wehage, 68, of Morning Sun died at 8:55 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at his home.

Born September 19, 1942 in Kingston, he was the son of Arthur and Selma Andries Wehage. On April 4, 1964 he married Caroline “Sue” VanDorn at Salem Lutheran Church. She preceded him in death on September 23, 1998.

Mr. Wehage was a Mediapolis High School graduate. He served in the Army National Guard. Mr. Wehage was a machinist for BNSF. He was very active in the Railroad Union and served as a union steward. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church and served as president of Salem Lutheran Cemetery Board.

He was a regular blood donor for the Burlington Community Blood Bank with over 20 gallons donated.

He enjoyed the time spent with his brother Kenny and nephew Dennis building things in his shop.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirly “Annie” Wehage Zickwolf of Shawnee, Kansas, Sandra Hahn of Morning Sun and Shelly Kloppenborg of Marshalltown; one son, Douglas “Doug” Wehage of Seattle, Washington; six grandchildren, Annamaria, Elizabeth, Allison, David, Austin and Bryon; one great-granddaughter, Olivia; one brother, Dale Wehage of Wapello; one sister, Alice long of Gulfport, Illinois; nieces and nephews and long time companion, Rosemary Stanford.

His wife, parents, and one brother, Kenneth Wehage preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 2 until 8 p.m. Thursday, May 26th in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m.

The funeral service for Mr. Wehage will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 27th, in Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Cindy Johnson officiating.

Interment will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery.

A memorial was established for Salem Lutheran Cemetery.
