Harry Williams

Harry Russell “Ike” Williams, 89 of Columbus Junction died Saturday, July 19, 2003 at the Washington County Hospital in Washington. He was born August 18, 1913 in Columbus City, Iowa, the son of Arthur M. and Edith M. Allen Williams. Harry was united in marriage to Martha Duncan on October 7, 1939, in Missouri.

He served with the United States Navy as a Radar Man, 3rd Class from May 17, 1944 to December 18, 1945 aboard the battleship “Colorado.”

He retired from Poole Transfer Company of Muscatine. He was a member of the Ducks Unlimited and the Riverside V.F.W. and was an avid sportsman, enjoying time fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his sister, Ruth Dircks of Columbus Junction, two nieces, Jacquelin G. Scott and Diane Glanz and two nephews, Sam Yarbrough and Mark Jordan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Martha in 1986, one brother, Richard, and two sisters, Shirley Yarbrough and Patricia Jordan.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction with the Rev. Cathy Whitlatch officiating. Burial with military services was in the Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Following the service at the cemetery a luncheon was held in the Community Room at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine.

Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home in Columbus Junction.

A memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.
