Edward J. Griffin

Edward J. Griffin, 74, of Fredonia, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa.

Graveside services for Edward were held Friday, June 20, at the Indian Creek Cemetery. A memorial has been established at the funeral home. Arrangements were in the care of Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction, Iowa.

Edward Joseph Griffin was born May 27, 1929 in Melrose, Iowa to William P. and Kathleen A. (McGrath) Griffin. Edward married Eva M. Hills on December 6, 1959. She died April 16, 2001. Edward later married Lula R. Murry on December 26, 1971. In the 1970s, Edward worked 16 years as a wildcatter on drilling rigs in Michigan and Wyoming. In the 1960s he worked on the gas drilling rigs in the Columbus Junction area. Edward was an army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion. He also worked as a railroad foreman.

Edward is survived by his son, Randy Griffin of Fredonia, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Aaron Troy Lee, Justin Keil, Andy Keil, and Joshua Keil; 2 brothers, Jerry Griffin and his wife, Bette, of Columbus Junction and Paul Griffin of Columbus Junction; and 2 sisters, Patricia L. Cocklin and her husband, Clinton, of Wapello, Iowa, and Loretta M. Bailey and her husband, Jim, of Ft. Madison, Iowa. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, wife Eva, 1 step daughter, Belinda Keil, 2 sisters, and 4 brothers.
