Larry D. Wallace

Larry David Wallace, 52, 413 East 10th St., Tipton, Iowa, died June 12, 2003, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City from complications of cancer. Born November 2, 1950 in Muscatine, he was the son of John Fredrick and Mary Margaret Long Wallace. He was a 1968 graduate of Wapello High School and attended Southeastern Community College and Iowa State University. On June 14, 1970 he married Delores Jean Gerdner in Grandview.

He was a Farm Bureau Insurance agent for 24 years.

He was a past board member of the Tipton Country Club and Tipton Board of Education; member of Athletic Boosters, Tipton Moose, Men’s Gospel Quartet, Community Choir and United Methodist Church and Church Choir.

He had served in the U.S. Navy.

Visitation was Sunday at the Fry Funeral Home in Tipton.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Tipton with the Rev. DeLane Wright officiating. John Soenkson was vocalist, Sylvia Gould, organist.

Pallbearers were John Barnum, Juris Straumanis, Rich Zobel, Roger Strefling, Bill Frankhauser and Larry Glick. Burial followed at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the Tipton United Methodist Church and the Tipton High School Senior Scholarship.

Survivors include his wife Dee of Tipton; two sons, K.C. Wallace and wife Marlena, Cape Coral, Florida, and Chris Wallace of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Kenyan Chad and Kennedy Chris Wallace; and his mother, Mary Wallace of Wapello.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1980
