Mary Jean Keller

Mary Jean Keller, age 83, of Wapello, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday morning, November 23, 2010,, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center in Wapello. She was born on December 5, 1926 in Port Louisa, rural Louisa County, Iowa to Frank and Mollie Nelson Walker. On June 1, 1958 she married Ivan Keller in West Liberty.

Mary Jean graduated from Wapello High School. She worked at the Farm Bureau office in Wapello and later at the Louisa County courthouse in the Recorder’s Office. She then decided to become a homemaker after the birth of their son. She loved her garden, cooking for her family, spending time with friends and family, and helping out with the family farm.

She is survived by her husband, Ivan; her son, Kirk & Tammy Keller of Wapello; three grandsons, Collin Johnston of Papillion, Nebraska, Landon Keller of Peoria, Illinois, and Jordan Keller at home in Wapello; a sister, Arlene Otto of West Liberty; a brother, Robert of Wapello; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Walker.

A memorial service will be held at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 6, 2010, officiated by Pastor Irv Smith. A celebration of Mary Jean’s life and a sharing of memories will be held with a luncheon after the service at the Ambulance Building in Wapello.

Burial will be at a later date at the Port Louisa Cemetery.
