Steven Bruce Hawk, 50, of Morning Sun, Iowa, died Monday afternoon, February 14, 2011, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. The son of Bert and Shirley Carroll Hawk, he was born on March 22, 1960 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He married Tammy L. Spitznogle on April 28, 2000, in Wapello.

He was an over the road truck driver having last worked for Adrian Trucking out of Richland, Iowa. Steven loved sports, his time with his family especially grandchildren, video games and movies.

His family surviving him include his wife, Tammy; his mother and step-father who raised him, Shirley and Larry Friend of Columbus City, Indiana; his mother-in-law, Beverly Spitznogle of Wapello; eight children, Priscilla Dominguez and Carrie Pendleton both of Morning Sun, Eulalia Salazar of Grinnell, Marshall Alvarez of Coralville, Cody Hawk of Columbus City, Indiana; and Jasper, JoAnna and Brexton Hawk all at home; several foster children; nine grandchildren; a sister, Millisa Burdette of Kimmel, Indiana; and two brothers, Jeff Hawk of Kendallville, Indiana and Robert Hawk of Columbus City, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his father when he was one; an infant brother, Jackie; a daughter, Alexandria; and a nephew, Brandon.

The funeral service for Steven Hawk will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with Pastor Cindy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Wapello Cemetery.

The family met with friends Wednesday evening at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.

A memorial fund has been established.
