Ursela G. Barth

Ursela G. Barth, 94, of Wapello and formerly of rural Morning Sun, died Monday afternoon, February 14, 2011, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center. The daughter of Chris and Julia Massner Grimm, she was born on December 31, 1916 at West Bend, Iowa. She married John R. Barth on August 21, 1938 at Oakville, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2005.

She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church at Oakville. She enjoyed gardening and being a homemaker caring for her family. She and her husband had enjoyed several inters in Zapata, Texas.

Her family surviving includes a daughter, Rebecca and Don Carpenter of Colorado Springs, Colorado; four sons, Duane and Judith Barth of Elk River, Minnesota, Ronald and Leann Barth of Wichita, Kansas, David and Elaine Barth of Bluffton, Indiana, and Dennis and Robbin Barth of Mediapolis; a son-in-law, Bob Ditmars of Muscatine; twenty grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a sister, Mavis Hermann of Morton, Illinois; four brothers, Kenneth Grimm of Davenport, Mark Grimm of Wapello, Charles Grimm of Rose Hill, Kansas, and David Grimm of Verona, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; a daughter, Carol Ditmars; a son, Robert Eugene ‘Bobbie’; and three brothers, Clyde, Floyd and Jess Grimm.

The funeral ceremony for Ursela Barth will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at the Oakville Apostolic Christian Church with the ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, rural Oakville.

Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Great River Hospice.
